DeMoDa was explicitly designed with a commitment to Open Science, in accordance with the FAIR Principles and the Open Science initiative of the ERC Horizon Europe programme. As the data in DeMoDa were derived from human biological/skeletal remains, the DeMoDa Advisory Board is committed to balancing scientific value with concerns about how these human remains came to be in the various repositories from which the dental anthropological data were collected. This balance is elaborated on and explained in the Statement on Ethics section that follows, with particular attention to the CARE Principles.
